Katie Boulter Secured a spot in Fourth Round

Katie Boulter secured a spot in the fourth round of the Miami Open with a commanding win over Brazil’s Beatriz Haddad Maia, continuing her impressive performance in 2024.

 

No 1 in  Tennis

The British No 1, who had also defeated Haddad Maia en route to clinching the San Diego title last month, sailed to a 6-2 6-3 win in just an hour and a half.

 

Victory

The victory sets up a fourth-round clash for the 27-year-old against seasoned WTA Tour player Victoria Azarenka.

 

Aryana Defeat

In other matches, Aryna Sabalenka suffered a defeat to Anhelina Kalinina in what was her second match since the passing of her former boyfriend.

 

Iga Swiatek And Naomi

Meanwhile, victories were also recorded by Iga Swiatek and Naomi Osaka. The Miami Open, along with over 80 other tournaments, is being broadcast exclusively live on Sports Tennis.

 

Sablenka Second Appearance

Aryna Sabalenka experienced a defeat at the hands of Anhelina Kalinina with scores of 6-4, 1-6, 6-1. This match marked Sabalenka’s second appearance following the passing of her former boyfriend, Konstantin Koltso, who died at the age of 42 on Monday.

 

Challenge

 Despite overcoming Paula Badosa on Friday, Sabalenka’s challenging week concluded on Saturday, a day marked by her evident frustration on the court. She  smashing her racquet after conceding the match to Kalinina on the centre court.

 

Top Tier Competitors

Kalinina commented on the intensity of the match, noting the difficulty of playing against top-tier competitors on such significant stages.

 

 “The match was good today, but I was able to handle the pressure in those critical moments,” she stated.
