Club Career

Sam Kerr began her professional career at age 15 with Perth Glory, playing from 2008 to 2012 before moving to Sydney FC. In 2013, she joined the Western New York Flash for the inaugural NWSL season, helping the team win the NWSL Shield. She later played for Sky Blue FC and the Chicago Red Stars in the same league. In 2019, after expressing interest in playing in Europe and receiving multiple offers, including from Olympique Lyonnais, Kerr signed with Chelsea. With Chelsea, she has won eight trophies, including three consecutive Women’s Super League titles, and helped the team reach their first UEFA Women’s Champions League final in 2021.

 

International Career

Sam Kerr earned her first senior international cap in 2009 at the age of 15. She has represented Australia in the 2010, 2014, 2018, and 2022 AFC Women’s Asian Cup tournaments. She also appeared in 2011, 2015, 2019, and 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cups, and the 2016 and 2020 Summer Olympics.

Western Knights, 2006–2008 Samantha Kerr began her football journey as a junior player at Western Knights in Mosman Park. After three years, she trialed for the Western Australian State Team before joining Perth Glory.

Sam Kerr debuted for Perth Glory at age 15 during the 2009 W-League season. She was named Players’ Player and won Goal of the Year for a long-range goal against Sydney FC. In the 2010–11 season, she started all 10 matches and scored three goals, including a brace against Adelaide United.

2013 Season

Sam Kerr signed with the Western New York Flash in 2013, making 19 starts in 21 appearances and scoring six goals. The Flash reached the finals but lost to Portland.

2014 Season 

Returning for the 2014 season, Kerr started all 20 matches and was the team’s top scorer with nine goals. She was named NWSL Player of the Week in week 9. After the season, she was traded to Sky Blue FC.

2015–16 Season

2016–17 Season

2018–19 Season 

In October 2018, Kerr became the W-League’s first marquee player with a $400,000 contract. She topped the scoring charts with 17 goals, including a hat-trick in the semi-final against Melbourne Victory, leading Perth to the grand final.

On 13 November 2019, Sam Kerr joined Chelsea for the second half of the 2019–20 FA WSL season. Sam Keer joined on  a two-and-a-half year contract. She debuted against Reading on 5 January 2020 and scored her first goal two weeks later against Arsenal.
